10 Activities to do with your Child this Spring Break

As the weather starts to warm up and students are close to summer break, you may be looking for more things to do outside or to keep their brains active! Look no further, Here are 10 fun activities to do with your children.

  1. Go swimming

You may have an aquatic center, community pool, or beach near you. Now’s a great time to grab those floaties and head to the pool! If you don’t have a pool close by or feel nervous about everyone else there, you can also buy a smaller pool to fit in your backyard.

  1. Zoo

Your child will love to see the animals they’re learning about at daycare and in school! The zoo near me does a free day once a month. Check with yours to see if there are any special deals that would help you get a good rate.

  1. Science Center

The science center is a great learning environment that will get your children excited about anything from electricity to anatomy to astronomy. A great way to keep the brain active for older children.

  1. Hike / Walk

Depending on the age of your children, you can walk the trails at your public park, or around your neighborhood. If you have a small child, you can get a buggy that will attach to your bike to pull them in. You can even collect rocks at this time to use for number 6!

  1. Water/Sensory Table

This is a great alternative for those who don’t have a pool near! You can do so many fun activities on a water table or sensory table. There are a ton of great examples online to help you get an idea.

  1. Paint Rocks

First, you need to collect some rocks. Your child may enjoy joining you on this scavenger hunt. Then, you can paint them! Older kids may enjoy returning them to the place they found them for others to find and enjoy.

  1. Playground

This may seem like a simple one, but the playground is one of my child’s favorite summer activities! They even have a splash pad next to it so that he can cool off after he plays.

  1.  Legos

Larger Legos for younger kids and smaller Legos for older kids. Legos for younger kids can really help with physical and mental development while for older kids it’s much more of a mental challenge.

  1.  Bake

Get your toddler on a chair and teach them how to make cookies , brownies, or even cupcakes! Then enjoy them together with a tall glass of milk.

  1.  Gardening

Having a few easy plants around the house can be a great opportunity to teach responsibility and caretaking! You can teach them to water their plant every day and watch it grow.

These are just a few of the possibilities for a great summer! Try them out and feel free to let us know which one you enjoyed the most!
